Addressing the common problems of the commons

11th Early Career Researchers' Symposium
Datum objave: 01. avgust 2023

With the desire to meet new generations of researchers at ZRC SAZU and to encourage them to present their own scientific work, The Organising Committee of the 11th ZRC SAZU Early Career Researchers' Symposium invites all young researchers, assistants (with or without PhD) and students of the Postgraduate School of ZRC SAZU to submit abstracts for the 11th Early Career Researchers' Symposium. This year's symposium will take place in mid-November (exact date to be announced) at the ZRC SAZU Atrium. In cooperation with the student journal Platforma, we will collect the best papers and publish them in the journal after the symposium.

In a time of atomised individuals, specialised scientific studies, the loosening of the social bond, the lack of public spaces and the perversion of public discourse into empty slogans, we dedicate the 11th Symposium to the theme of »the common«. We are accepting a wide range of contributions, from the question of common spaces, the decreasing number of collective agreements, the common good, common sense, to the emergence of new forms of association. »Community«and »common« are words that are often used in different contexts, but the frequency of their use has diluted the sharpness of their meaning. We therefore invite you to address together the common problems of the commons.

If your contribution does not fall under the general theme of the symposium, we still invite you to apply for the open panel, where we look forward to hearing about your current scientific work. We also welcome submissions from the widest possible range of interests, from the natural sciences to the social sciences and humanities.

Applications should be submitted to jure.donsa@zrc-sazu.si by 23 October 2023. They should include the title of the presentation, an abstract of 150-250 words, your email address and affiliation (institute and/or module), and a short CV. Contributions can be submitted in English or Slovenian.

We look forward to receiving your contributions and to your participation in the symposium!
