September 22, 2023 at 10:00 to September 22, 2023 at 14:00
Prešeren Hall of ZRC SAZU, Novi trg 4, Ljubljana
Concern for research integrity is not only a good practice for research organisations, but increasingly a required standard in the European Commission’s Framework Programmes for Research and Innovation. In this event, Theodora Konach will present the Research Integrity Promotion Plan (RIPP), which has been developed in the framework of the project SOPs4RI. All those involved in research integrity and ethics in universities, faculties, institutes and other research organisations are invited to attend the presentation and workshop.
The event will take place on Friday, 22 September, at the Prešeren Hall of ZRC SAZU, Novi trg 4, Ljubljana. You can register for the workshop at rok.bencin@zrc-sazu.si until Monday, 18 September * The workshop will not be recorded as it is intended for the practical aspects of developing a tailor-made plan for individual research organisations. Participation of a team (two or more people) from each institution is recommended. Those registered will receive the workshop material by email. The introductory presentation does not require registration. The presentation and the workshop will be held in English.
Programme:
10:00 - 11:00 Introductory presentation of the Research Integrity Promotion Plan (RIPP)
11:20 - 14:00 RIPP Workshop
Detailed description:
The SOPs4RI-project aimed to foster the promotion of excellent research and to strengthen research integrity culture. The overall objective was to create an adjustable and ready-to-use Research Integrity Promotion Plan (RIPP) template with an online toolbox to support and guide research performing organisations (RPOs) and research funding organisations (RFOs) in cultivating research integrity and preventing, detecting and handling research misconduct.
In the first part, an introductory presentation will explain the structure of a Research Integrity Promotion Plan, with a step-by-step guide on how to navigate the SOPs4RI online Toolbox, in order to use this tool effectively and tailor it to institutional needs.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain insights from practical implementation experiences using the SOPs4RI material and a broader perspective on the importance and obligations of implementing a Research Integrity Promotion Plan, within the EU research landscape.
Following the first part, the second part will offer a hands-on workshop on how to develop an institutional Research Integrity Promotion Plan. The workshop is planned as a co-creational and inclusive mutual learning exercise. At the end, participants will have both a theoretical understanding of a Research Integrity Promotion Plan structure, main areas and developments, and a more practical exposure to the methods and strategies that they can use and/or adapt in their organisations.
The exchange, conclusions and recommendations from the workshop will form a strong starting point for further broadening the institutional discussion on such topics as: how to strengthen and promote research integrity; how to drive an organisational change towards a more responsible research culture; how to identify and activate key institutional stakeholders and main facilitators of such a change; resources needed and challenges, costs and obstacles to these processes and how to overcome them.
